Keeping the shopoholic (in me) at bay...

In an effort to do something more constructive during lunch break at the office other than....
  • Going to Pick 'n Pay to buy foodstuffs
  • Buying baby clothes
  • Buying skincare products
  • Browsing the stores
  • Trying on clothes...and sometimes buying :-( etc etc etc
...I want to get myself a book to read. At first I thought working near the biggest mall in Cape Town was really awesome, soooo convenient BUT it really isn't. Especially not for someone like me who likes to shop (Shhhhh, don't tell Sam). So i popped into my usual lunch time spot Canal Walk Shopping Centre and headed to Exclusive Books. Just my luck, they're having a sale....sadly only the really crap books are on sale. I left the store empty handed planning on returning tomorrow knowing exactly what book to purchase. Back at the office, I did some Googling to find a really good read and stumbled upon "Best 100 Novels".

Here's the first 25...
1. 1984 by George Orwell
2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
3. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
4. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
5. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
6. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
7. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
8. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
9. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
10. The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
11. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
12. Animal Farm by George Orwell
13. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
14. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
15. Ulysses by James Joyce
16. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
17. Lord of the Flies by William Golding
18. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
19. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
20. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
21. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
22. East of Eden by John Steinbeck
23. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
24. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
25. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

....well I still don't know what to read but I my goal is to read all 100 best novels before I die. I've already read quite a few on the list so I'm sure my goal is attainable....
