Nephrotic Syndrome Diet

As previously posted, my daughter suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome and needs to add, avoid or remove specific foods from her diet.

The nutritional requirements are as normal except:
  • Loss of proteins needs to be taken into account but very high protein intake avoided so a moderate protein intake is advised
  • Sodium/Salt intake should be low
  • Fat intake should be kept at a minimum
So I went on a search for every day foods but with the above specifications and foods that a 3 year old would eat. Here's what I found....

ALL JOY LOW SODIUM TOMATO SAUCE

MESSARIS UNSALTED CHIPS

PICK 'N PAY HOUSE BRAND FLAVOURED WATER
(in attempt to get her to drink more water)
There are 50 calories in 1 serving of Pick 'n Pay Flavoured Water.
Calorie Breakdown: 0% fat, 83% carbs, 17% protein.

FLORA PRO-ACTIVE LOW FAT SPREAD
Enriched with plant sterols to help lower cholesterol.
2 Teaspoons = 133 Calories, 3.5g Fat, 0.03g Sodium

......more to follow
