On many occasions
I have seen Live Blood Analysis advertised in the windows of pharmacies, health
stores and being sold on deal-of-the-day sites like Groupon. I was intrigued as
I usually am by the unconventional.
So after
suffering from mild headaches and feeling tired I decided to go and find out exactly
what Live Blood Analysis is all about hoping that it might have some answers for me.
Off I went Googling looking for places that offers it. In the Southern
Suburbs of Cape Town I found two providers of the service. One provider is called
Sevenpointfive and the other was the same practice offered at a health-store but with no
particular branding or product affiliation.
As far as I
could tell they are both the same procedure, Sevenpointfive however has a range
of supplements under their own branding whereas other healthcare practitioners
who offer the Live Blood Analysis would recommend supplements from a wide range
of suppliers (Solgar, Nativa etc) which suits the pocket's of more people as you can choose where you wish to buy the products from - you can shop around in other words.
The difference in
price was only just R50 but I chose the non-branded one which was also the
cheaper one.
Where did I go?
Who did it?
Dr. Alison Le
Roux - a homeopath
How long did it take?
+/- 30-45mins
The printed report takes a while to prepare as it is done manually.
How much did it cost?
R200 for the procedure
and subsequent verbal and written feedback.
It does not include
the recommended supplements; these are all available at To Your Health and some
at many other healthshops including at major retail pharmacies like Dischem.
How to book?
Phone the store;
make a booking as it’s not offered every day.
Who can go?
Anyone, any age.
How does it work?
- Your finger gets pricked – it is not painful at all.
- 2ml drop of blood is placed onto a slide.
- The slide is placed under a microscope and viewed on a live video screen via a laptop/pc.
Once your blood
is enlarged and displayed on the laptop screen, the practitioner starts to
point out what she can see from the live screening of your blood. Like the
shape of the cells, the activity/movement, the size of the cells and so forth.
You also get
asked questions like “do you suffer from heartburn” and then you may be told that it's visible in your blood and you are told why you may be suffering from the heartburn. It’s quite cool, almost like having your palm read....they see stuff ;-)
Once the
detailed analysis of the drop of blood is complete you receive a printed report
of what was discussed along with recommendations of supplements you should take
with your immune system, the alkalinity or acidity of your blood, your
digestive health and areas of imbalance in mind.
It does not pick
up cancer, aids, TB or diseases like that and it does not give you a forecast
of your susceptibility to get any of these so there’s no early detection for diseases. It is
not a diagnostic tool for chronic diseases.
Its aim
according to the information leaflet is “to help optimize your health and
prevent and assist in treating any existing health problem”.
Do I recommend it?
Yeah, why not.
Go see for yourself. I certainly didn't see it as bullshit. What I was told was
pretty factual. I know my body and for someone I don’t know to tell me what they
can see from my blood without me being forthcoming with my current health
status was pretty damn awesome. No one wants to waste time and money on supplements
and nutritional changes so to be guided in the right direction was certainly
welcomed.
A lot of
articles on Live Blood Analysis on the net will try and dissuade you from doing
it, but it's honestly the least harmful procedure ever, what do you have to lose and surely it does have some merit as the professionals offering it are not just some business person off the street but people who have a keen interest in health and who have spent years studying it.
