I'm every woman ....it's all in ME!

The day before Eid....the house is clean, washing's on the line and all that is left to do is bake 4 cakes, finish my pepper steak pie, colour my hair and in between make sure my baby daughter is alright :-) ....oh and get stuff ready for our last iftar...and also take the washing off the line, fold it and put it the basket to be ironed BY MYSELF :p

Do I consider myself a good wife, homemaker, mother, housekeeper etc etc...HELL YES!!!!

I work full-time yet I still make sure all the house duties/chores are done, there's always a pretty decent meal to eat and that I, myself look and feel like the super-woman I am LOL. Ok, so my husband does lend a hand but still I feel proud that unlike so many of my peers I have not employed someone to do all my chores for me. My word, I'll be too ashamed. I am young, energetic woman, I can't possibly let an older woman work for me! And it's not just that I am a perfectionist and that I would probably do all the work over again, somehow it just doesn't feel right to get someone else to slave away in my house.

Here's an interesting newspaper article from 1948, "Good HouseKeeper, Homemaker, 2 entirely different gals"

Our house is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy.

Until the day it becomes impossible for to do all the above I will continue being the domestic engineer or rather the DOMESTIC GODDESS that I am. So to all the Domestic Goddesses out there and to all employed domestic workers, I salute you...you have the most important job in the world :-)
You are doing something many would never be able to do. WELL DONE!

Housework is something you do that nobody notices until you don't do it.
