The fact that I dislike cricket is not so much because I am female and woman generally don't like sports, I'm not even sure if I really hate cricket or if I hate the fact that my husband plays the sport, watches the sport, is involved with the sport and is completely fanatical about it (or so it seems).
I never wanted to be involved with a sports-person as I hate so-called 'sports-weekends'. You know, where the entire weekend is planned around what matches will be on the sports channels and where the poor couch is abused and there are empty snack packets everywhere, crumbs and drinks glasses etc etc but above all else, sports-weekends where woman are ignored, unseen and only good enough to carry snacks and bring drinks to the couch-potato watching sports!
Personally, I don't completely dislike cricket season. I enjoy the extra free-time and that I don't have to feel obliged to spend every Saturday with my husband but that's just it. He plays cricket E V E R Y S I N G L E S A T U R D A Y ! I don't understand why anyone would want to spend their Saturday standing in the sun, getting their car dirty 'n dusty, coming home all sore and sunburnt and sometimes even injured when you could rather enjoy the summer time. It's flippin beach-season, time to wear flip-flops and shorts, check out all the summer time spots and get sunburnt doing fun stuff not standing on grass/cricket-pitch waiting for a ball to come your way.
Oh, and when it's not cricket-match-playing-day it either cricket-match-watching-day OR cricket-practice-day!
WHAT THE HELL!!!! I don't get it! What is it with sports that pleases men so much!?!?!
I'm not going to be a psychopath wife and bitch and moan until the end of time or until cricket season is over because it is never over...it's always cricket season somewhere else in the world so there's always a game to watch!!!. Instead I will try to find ways and means of distracting myself from my husband's weird obsession with this long, drawn-out and boring game of cricket....thankfully this year I have a daughter to keep me occupied....
Anyway, here's to cricket season and getting grass stains out of cricket gear :)

LMAO !! I don't know what I find more hilarioius : your comments, or the fact that I had my own mini-tantrum about it a few hours ago, or the fact that when Samir first told us about you and I asked how you felt about cricket (as I was quite aware of his love affair) he said "her whole family plays cricket" hence implying your equal interest in the game ! LOL !!
I am honest - I HATE that it takes them away for the WHOLE day ! And I am not sympathetic to ANY injuries incurred or marks. I do NOT scrub his whites.
hehehehehe.... my parents have been involved with blue bells since I was in diapers probably and I know 1st hand how being involved with a club or any community organizations takes you away from family...I was dragged with to many events. There's nothing wrong with the above but I hate how it can't be optional! I certainly wouldn't want to devote my entire summer to cricket. Maybe every other Saturday when there's nothing else to do, I would encourage it though if you were getting paid for it LOL
Anyway, cricket was there before me so I guess I have to take a back seat :p
I don't know what happened, one day M gave it up "for his daughter" and now he started again "for his son" !
One more year then I'll send Mu along for the day ;-)
I hope Samir would maybe not give it up entirely but just slow-down a bit for his daughter (and me) :)
Twice a week we have supper after 7pm!!! Because it is cricket practice and I'm left to take care of the kid, bath and feed the kid and make supper and wait for "Mr" to return from practice after the sun has set already. Today is 1 of those days...I'm exhausted and I still have chores and I'm desperately trying to squeeze "me-time" in somewhere :(
And yes I am posting this comment here on purpose lol
