Buying a professional camera does not make you a photographer, just a camera owner :p

In my opinion, photography besides being a skill is most certainly an art.

I recently purchased an entry level SLR camera.

A single-lens reflex (SLR) is a camera that uses a semi-automatic moving mirror system which permits the photographer to sometimes see exactly what will be captured by the film or digital imaging system, as opposed to pre-SLR cameras where the view through the viewfinder could be significantly different from what was captured on film.

It really isn't the easiest camera in the world to use but that is where SKILL comes in. Skill which takes time to achieve/gain and perfect coupled with an eye for beauty, design and the ability to capture a minute part of life and producing a picture worth a thousand words is what I love about photography and all visual arts.

I absolutely love photos, even the embarrassing ones. Photographs are their as a reminder of what we sometimes forget. Photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure....
