Gr8ful

What a tumultuous week but I MADE IT! I made it through this very unquiet week relatively unscathed. Relieved, Relaxed and Ready to face the remainder of this year and ease into 2012. Vacations have been booked :)

So my week-that-was included....

A party for well over 50 kids at the Christine Revell Children's home for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Don't know what it is with parties but she just wasn't a participant, the reason for the event, the guest of honour and the star of the show would've rather liked to be at home watching Cbeebies. I'm glad she's not an attention-seeker or a lime-light grabber but gee-whizz it would've been sweet if she would at-least seem a bit interested. Oh well, perhaps she knew, this wasn't just a party for her but a party for all the little kids who found themselves in the unfortunate position of being a resident of the children's home. She didn't want to stand-out, she wanted all the little kids to get attention and not to steal all of it. All in all, the party was a huge success. I'm forever grateful for the massive contribution by all my family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and everyone. 100S of nappies, cleaning products, baby essentials, baby foods, clothings, toys, tinned foods and everything I asked for assistance with. They all “came to the party” literally, bearing all the goodies that the Children's home needed.

So that was weeks of planning and prepping and the party all over in one day.

Up next on my week-that-was was my two week old Polo and it's contact with a foolish dog who ran across the road! Initially I was sad knowing that this German automobile’s parts are gonna cost me. I wished there was a dog owner I could claim from. I thought all kinds of mean thoughts – like people can't just be happy for me and my new car. I worked hard for this damnit. It seemed like the evil eye and ill wishes that caused this misfortune to befall me. That soon disappeared, I know I'm a good person and I am blessed to have an awesome brother. R530 and 48 hours later I had a brand-new grille and my car didn't look like it had teeth missing in the front. Thanks bro!

Lastly, and all in one day I wrote two exams which I did not study for because the party planning meant I couldn't fit studying in but I'm hoping for the best, I atleast gave it a shot with all the bull-crap I wrote. Who knows, perhaps it makes sense to the person whose going to mark my papers. So now for the rest of the week it's my daughter's official birth day so I have a few more party packs to finish for her class. That's a total of 85 party boxes that I had to fold, fill and decorate and still a birthday cake to bake. But I'm happy, complacent and so grateful...life's good!
