Braces - The Finance Side

If you thought that braces cost a lot, you were right.

I'm the type of person who wouldn't JUST decide to do something. By the time I make my first move I would've researched the crap out of it and would know the ins and outs and would've found the best option and not just go with the first thing I came across.

This time I opted for Dr Gilmee Samsodien. I was familiar with him as an orthodontist as we've been driving pass his Doctors rooms (its actually a house) for years.

I also know of someone who had their braces done with Dr Samsodien and I asked her for some info too. So by the time I visited Dr Samsodien I knew exactly what to expect.

The cool thing about Dr Samsodien is that he allows you to pay the total cost of the braces in installments over the period you have your braces on (maximum 12 months).

It really makes a lot of sense and it works out so much better for his patients as often braces are not covered by your medical aid. You feel the cost of the braces less if paid monthly than in one big upfront payment.

The costs are as follows:

Besides having really good payment options, Dr Samsodien is a very good orthodontist. I felt well-informed and comfortable throughout. Turned out that he knows my family really well. My dad is from Wynberg and my grandparents and his parents were neighbours or something.

If you live in the South, or dont mind the drive-out, I highly recommend Dr. Gilmee Samsodien.

This is really useful Ilhaam. I've been itching to do the same (+ more teeth work) but the once off payment is just way to much. R9.500 for one set of teeth is still massive though, so 2 sets are going to be crippling. But you know...smiling is pretty awesome.

I'm glad I made a positive contribution to the interwebs :) I say pop around by Dr Samsodien, maybe they have a good payment option available for the full (upper and lower) set. They're in Wynberg (near Aneesa's and Cosy Corner). Happy smiling!! And no you're not too old for braces :)
