What a day! My day started particularly early as Sam had to catch an early flight to Jozi and unfortunately he isn't the best at sneaking around quietly. It was keys, cupboards/drawers, doors and eventually setting the alarm off...this all at 4am in the morning!!!
After he left, it was the little lady's turn to prevent me from getting some sleep on my day off when I was really looking forward to snoozing until at least 7am :-( For some reason, Farah had weird bouts of crying in her sleep. Perhaps she knew what the events of her day were all about viz. Measles Vaccination and then ear-piercing...eeekkk!
Although I really did not get the much needed sleep my day turned out rather well. The trip to the baby clinic went ok, just one scream and a couple of whimpers and she was ok again. The nurses as nurses usually are or rather SEEM were mean, cruel and callous ....nah, they're not actually, they really are nice. Afterall CARING IS THE ESSENCE OF NURSING. They are not there to tell you what you want to hear but rather to give you the best advice because they care...why else become a nurse. So anyway, the nurses said the little one needs to eat more. She's tall but not that fat. But maybe just maybe she's got my mom's good genes i.e. to be tall and skinny. Nevertheless, I'll proceed to feed her more and to have dessert follow every meal :-)
Shortly after the clinic experience and a nap (not me, of course the little lady napped...i don't get to nap :p) my sis and I took Farah to Canal Walk (i know, i know i cannot stay away from that place even on my day off from work!!!). After I treated my sister to a delightful lunch at Nino's and did some walking around we went to Claire's for the ear-piercing...shame as if the morning's lanky, sharp needle in her thigh wasnt enough. I selected topaz and gold earrings as Topaz is her birthstone. The earpiercing went well, 2 assistants with 2 guns pierce both ears at the same time. Thankfully, I expected the screaming and of course followed by the whimpers which secretly I loved because she held me so tight and I felt so needed and wanted.
So my advice to all mom's....if you want to have your daughter's ears pierced do it on the same day as the vaccination. Not only are you prepared for the second cries but all the pain and healing will be over and done with in one day!
I'm gonna some sleep now...flippin finally! bye bye
